Separation anxiety

The influence of the christers, or if you prefer "christists", is waning in the GOP.

The Evangelicals who power played their way to the top of the Party are now dismayed to find that they ended up with a guy who has marginal interest in their goals and worse, is going to be their candidate. Want him or not.

The Evangelicals and the Great Trump Hope

There are two problems with Trump. One, he is no evangelical. Divorced and almost a libertine, rich as Croesus, he is hardly a model for the hard core X-ian life. Second, he is for "the gays" and some other issues that the religious right eschew totally.

It will be interesting to see what goes on.

James Dobson, a loudmouth with a crusader bent, has said that he hears second hand that Trump has been saved again. Something like holding a pot holder when lifting a hot pot off the stove.

James fucking Dobson, a hater and a hypocrite of the worst kind. Oops. There I go again, hatin' on the handmaidens of the savior jeeeezuz keeerist. Or something. Boy these bastards get under my skin.

Squirm Donald. The holier than thou crowd is going to give you grief.

Queering the budget

It is amazing that after all this time the GOoPers still want to legislate what happens in my bedroom.

Well, there is not a direct line in that direction but the war against gays is now defined as a war about "religious freedom".

G.O.P. Opposition to Gay Rights Provision Derails Spending Bill

Which is OK. It is your right to be a bigot but don't get your pointy finger in my face please.

We have been a convenient crowbar for the cranky right wingers for a long time. The people who fear that someone somewhere is happy, free and worse, having a good time with other sinners.

What awful politics. The politics of bigotry, fear, prejudice, yadahyadah.

I suppose I should be used to it now. And it hardly effects my daily life at all.

I live in Palm Springs California. Gay central. Well as far as the desert is concerned.

The SFOs and NewYahkahs would dispute our pre-eminence and I wouldn't want to argue. They all come here to take their sunbaths at clothing optional resorts which, of course, is a sin whether you are gay or straight.

The Christers are a pitiful lot. While they make me angry I also pity them. Somehow the idea of "god's love" has eluded them on the ground.

Cynical me also knows that this is about rounding up the yokel vote.

It will be interesting how Donald J. Trump (I just found out that he traveling with the initial now) will handle these asshats.

Textbook

I am always interested when the professional religious get their dick caught in the wringer.

Of course, there is nothing wrong with that if they kept their diddling within the frame of their sermons.

In this case a 14 year old girl is involved.

A Spiritual Leader Gains Stature, Trailed by a Troubled Past

He is also accused of some other things like plagiarism. He took some chapters out of another guy's book.

Of course, the evangelicals have always had something like this in their stories. Saved from depravity. Redemption from sins committed. It is good fodder for the followers. Also some nice sex spices it up.

When I was a church organist I caught some of the energy from the congregation side. Projection, fascination, fantasy.

It is inevitable. So it is not surprising the some preacher would want to taste some of the sinners as well as the sin.

It is all part of the usual hypocrisy. Another day in the pulpit.

Always something new in politics

So here is another political conundrum.

Can a Seventh Day Adventist win an election, indeed a nomination?

We seem to have gone beyond the old religious tests.

Biden is a catholic, out and out. There was a time in my memory when that was a limiting factor. You could maybe make governor but to have a catholic president would be tantamount to putting the pope in the White House. (Yes, I know I dropped the caps on those words)

Now we are skirting along the edges of the "sects".

Ben Carson Puts Spotlight on Seventh-Day Adventists

I am sort of out of the game, religious testing. But as I recall, when I was a kid, the SDA were thought to be a bunch of weirdos. The congregation near me even had a minister with a club foot!

Where I grew up also was a bunch of hillbillies and prots who even thought the catholics were out of line.

I know. That is how I grew up. It is amazing that I made it out of there. But then you know that I remain an apostate if not a genuine non-partisan in the game of sects and denominations.

Or something.

I am interested in Carson. He is your anti-candidate. Soft spoken. Careful with his talk (to a point). Quiet. Serene. None of the hoopla.

Of course, his politics are something else. Another goddam right winger. But they do get more exotic all the time.

On the other hand, realistically, there is nothing exotic about the Seven Dayers. They get together on Saturday. Otherwise, not so much difference.

Popa dopa

My papal patience is running short.

I hope the christ he is on his plane headed back to the Vatican.

I have had enough.

He had an audience with that ugly bitch who refused to issue marriage licenses to gay people in Kain-tuckee.

Red neck central.

I wasn't going to write about these shit kickers but here I go.

She is a fat and ugly specimen. I can say that ad hominem because it is true. And she has way too much hair.

Now, to the pope. I see that the audience with her was "secret". A rather open one of course.

He is as back door as all the rest of them. Two faced. My dad said "mealy mouth bastards" in describing the professionally religious. He also included the pious as well. The church ladies and the church sissies. The beaten down men who toed the line for their wives.

These were the Methodists. No pope. But a lot of professional finger pointers and a view of sin that certainly includes me in the fiery furnace.

Is he on the fucking plane yet?

Can I have a bit of relief here? Every morning on the cable at the gym.

And so on.

My title of the photo is "Jesus wept".

Bluenoses

It is amazing to me that the sex police are still carrying on as though it were the 19th Century.

Teenager’s Jailing Brings a Call to Fix Sex Offender Registries

Actually, there was no precedent in those times for this. I wasn't there but I read a lot of books.

Draconian sexual offender laws and the presence of the so called "sexual registries" are a disgrace.

I know there is some serious intent about this. Protecting children and all.

But the sex police get their noses into these things and before you know it we have a vehicle for public shaming and punishment which goes well beyond the limits.

I will not argue that sexual experimentation for teens should be totally unregulated. In fact the protection of children is unassailable. But when the children are past puberty and doing what humans do which is to bang on each other there is a different consideration.

Consensual sex is not rape. And so on.

I see this as the work of the same people that dunked other people in chairs of put them in stocks.

I always think that these people, so obsessed with other people's sex lives, are the ones who need to have their heads examined. Nosey parkers, repressed humanoids.

They are, of course, the same people that hate me and my life because I am out of the hetero-norm.

I see the hand of the christers in all of this but that is another matter for another time.

Smoke-a-dope

The thing about the christers is that they are so naive.

Thinking themselves as having a direct pipeline to their god it never occurs to them that others might differ. Beyond the "sinners" that is.

So we have a new religious "liberty" law in Indiana and how long does it take for the jokers and, in this case, smokers to come along and have a go at it?

No time at all.

A Church of Cannabis Tests Limits of Religious Law in Indiana

I am long past my reefer days, some 35 years now, but I reserve the right of others to have their dope just as I did. I just hope they don't abuse the privilege for themselves like I did. For me, when the booze quit working so did the rest of it.

It is funny. It is a cold glass of water thrown in the face of the religionists. A wake up call for the ones who think they can slip something over other-believers (there are others than "non").

Good for these guys. Smoke on.

French twist

You have to admire the French.

They keep sending a gay ambassador to The Vatican.

It has the papers going nuts. Pretzel logic.

Pope Francis Meets With France's Openly Gay Nominee for Ambassador to the Vatican

The church has ended up against the mainstream and has its head up its ass almost to the end of the day.

There is a little bit of time for them to take the head out with a big pop.

The big secret that everyone knows is that the church is a hotbed and refuge for many gay men who go to seminary. Many get ordained and stay gay. Well, you are gay forever as it turns out.

The hypocrisy is astounding but they have backed themselves in a corner.

One need not go into all the ins and outs so to speak. Start with the black dresses and move on from there. I have talked with gay priests who tell some pretty sexy stories. Of course, these are not "real priests", huh?

Well, at least they are talking.

I love that the French are the ones to send "the gay" to challenge the system.

Touchy touchy

There is no limit to the christian sense of persecution.

Something as innocuous as a celebration of Isaac Newton's birth which happened to fall on the day chosen to celebrate Jesus' birth. It has become a thing. Again.

Neil deGrasse Tyson Explains His Controversial Christmas Day Tweet

Not His birthday incidentally. A symbol.

But Newton was real and he has had a material effect on every aspect of our lives. He did have a birth day and this is it.

Of course, someone named Jesus was born and written about extensively but his curriculum vitae is lost in the sands of time.

The christians most often fail to see the limits of their spiritual beliefs. Newton had faith in the scientific method. Had he seen other aspects of his studies he would have changed his reports. Unlike the jesus people who refuse to change anything and call that faith. Some would call it pure ignorance.

Me for example.

It would be more frustrating if it didn't create a nice discussion in which thousands of thinkers will be introduced to Newton's ideas and, perhaps, become a little more skeptical of theologians coopt of the Jesus figure. Or symbol. Or person. See? There is no way out of the rabbit hole if the rabbit is sitting on the top of the entrance.

It amazes me that we cannot have a clear discussion of factual truth without the christers getting their pants in a twist.

Me? In the first weeks of my education at MIT I reproduced Newton's experiments in frosh physics lab.

They gave us the chance to disprove his work. Now that is education where the other is pour it into empty, unquestioning heads.

F does equal ma and I believe that God made it that way for us to use.
