The mighty have fallen
There is nothing better than seeing one of the high and mighty assholes of the world brought down.
Roger Ailes is the modern day personification of the fat toads that the cartoonist Thomas Nast used to go after in the "old days".
Roger Ailes is a slimy bastard and has presided over the rise of one of the most politically biased news channels there is.
I will not go into that part of it. I used to watch the unfolding of these egregious bastards party line at the gym every morning. Faux news. A soup of biased opinion and slander delivered in smarmy tones by attractive women and ugly men.
Which is apparently the culture of the entire place. The ugly going after the pretty. A Playboy mansion for the nerd right wing boys. And so on.
It is always nice to see a guy like this get his dick caught in the wringer.
Well, not literally.
Apparently Ailes success as a playboy was limited to talk and seduction. Otherwise known as harassment. Unwanted attention for immoral reasons.
It is also an example of the pants down exploits of the powerful man who thinks he can force others to submit to his carnal desires or whatever passes for that in the minds of ugly plutocrats.

Bright fart
I used to read Breitbart for his contrary views which, while opposite of my own, were often funny and refreshing.
It was nice to read how the other half lived.
Then Breitbart (what a great name) kicked and a new guy took over.
The tone of the web site changed quite a bit.
Nasty, humorless, often prone to spiteful reports.
Paranoid even.
And the guy responsible for that has gone onto the Trump bandwagon to take the reins.
Donald Trump Is The Candidate From Breitbart News
It is basically a right wing tabloid for the internet. See it here.
I made this an open link so you can look any random day to see the crazy.

Queering the budget
It is amazing that after all this time the GOoPers still want to legislate what happens in my bedroom.
Well, there is not a direct line in that direction but the war against gays is now defined as a war about "religious freedom".
G.O.P. Opposition to Gay Rights Provision Derails Spending Bill
Which is OK. It is your right to be a bigot but don't get your pointy finger in my face please.
We have been a convenient crowbar for the cranky right wingers for a long time. The people who fear that someone somewhere is happy, free and worse, having a good time with other sinners.
What awful politics. The politics of bigotry, fear, prejudice, yadahyadah.
I suppose I should be used to it now. And it hardly effects my daily life at all.
I live in Palm Springs California. Gay central. Well as far as the desert is concerned.
The SFOs and NewYahkahs would dispute our pre-eminence and I wouldn't want to argue. They all come here to take their sunbaths at clothing optional resorts which, of course, is a sin whether you are gay or straight.
The Christers are a pitiful lot. While they make me angry I also pity them. Somehow the idea of "god's love" has eluded them on the ground.
Cynical me also knows that this is about rounding up the yokel vote.
It will be interesting how Donald J. Trump (I just found out that he traveling with the initial now) will handle these asshats.

And this is the primary
We expected a goat fuck but this is really something.
Romney calling Trump 'phony,' urging Republicans to shun him
This is simply not done in GOP circles.
For decades, the Republicans have tolerated and encouraged the right wing goofballs and courted the racists.
But now, they have had enough.
Evidently because this time the intruders are into the tent and it very seriously impairs the workings of the Party.
I would normally say, "pass the popcorn", but it is hard to take delight in a mix-up that threatens the one side of the two party system in our country.
The thing about Trump is that he has taken the normal Republican line and has used boldface and italics to emphasize its underpinnings.
To be fair, there was a time, in my life span, when the South was Democrat to the core. Then, things changed. The Democrats would no longer tolerate that kind of thing within its Party. So the "whacko-birds", to use John McCain's term, went right to the GOP.
Now, Trump is a new amalgam. All those "birds" have come home to roost in his rhetoric.
There was also a time when the Democrats were viewed as harboring dangerous "progressives". In the early part of the Fifties, it was the Democrats who were accused of harboring the fringe. The "reds".
I suppose this is always going to happen. The people at the margins are going to come out for every election and try again.
The fail, like Ben Carson, the black right wing guy. A rich doctor who evidently lost sight of his heritage.
Trump is not, in truth, a Republican. He is a plutocrat taking advantage of the open system elections to push an agenda.
I will not go "there", meaning the place where many dictators have started from. The finger pointing, the accusations.
There is a lot of anti-muslim feeling in this country. Remember when they hurled that epithet at Obama.
If I were Muslim, I would be a little scared of the Trumpfer.

Split personality
I grew up to believe that Republicans were the elite, moneyed foks who never got their hands dirty and believed that the working men or women were beneath their interests.
That seems to be no longer the case.
More and more working class people are attracted to the ideas that are repugnant to the traditional GOoPer.
This is mostly because of the defection of a segment of former Democrats who hate immigration, desire isolation and, frankly, have racist opinions.
I won't get into the racist part because many Republicans believe in the traditional party of Lincoln. Anything but racist.
But there is no denying that the conservatives do offer a home to the disaffected and the angry mob elements of the American system.
This article is interesting.
For Republicans, Mounting Fears of Lasting Split
Basically, the idea is that Trump and Cruz, both rampant nativist, racist demagogue types, if not the real thing, have hijacked a segment of the dependable wing of disgruntled working class people; that the rent in the party represented by the current primary rhetoric, will become permanent.
The party of John McCain and Lyndsey Graham on one side and the bigots and the ideologues on the other.
In my lifetime there have been many, well several, third party movements. Notably the George Wallace secession people from the Sixties. Those were democrats. Before that there were, in fact, an American nazi like movement. Now there are the anti-government people.
This anti-government gang now showing up in Oregon has only one way to gain power other than arms and insurrection. It is to get under the bigger tent of the GOP.
But that is not OK for them. Some tasseled loafer dude will be forever telling to take off their goddam cowboy hats and sit down. To clean up their act and be more authentically American instead of some kind of troglodyte.
It is not my problem.
But it does worry me in that I believe in the two party system and doubt the sustainability of a three or four party system.
There has always been room for the outlier in the American system, the lone dissenting voice. Even in Congress. But an entire movement which could wreck half the present system would threaten the basic understanding of our two party system. Undermine it. Slow it down worse than anything we have seen so far.
Look at the Congress now and picture more dissent than there is at this time.
And so on.
Get your popcorn out. The traditional Republican Party could be imploding. Just like the Democratic Party did when it got hijacked by the southern bigots many years ago. Can anyone remember Estes Kefauver? The dupe of the right? A nice guy who ended up the symbol of a racist faction who never drew another quiet breath afterward.
And so on.
Just give me my popcorn.

Trailblazer
Ben Carson Shattering Stereotype About Brain Surgeons Being Smart
I have not seen Andy Borowitz for a while.
But here he is, fresh for the run at the Presidency. I mean the run at the candidates. All horns out.
Ben Carson is good for us. He sheds light on what happens when a privileged minority, rich people, lose control of their egos and cannot keep their mouths shut.
But the valuable service is that they say what other right wing whack jobs, and most Republicans, keep to themselves. Their inner beliefs are so astoundingly retro that they dare not mention them.
I figure it is a case of someone getting drunk on new privilege. He has some talents, he has gotten to use them, he is smart but not smart enough to see what a dick he can be.
He is not self aware.
A critical characteristic for electoral success over the long haul.
Especially if you are black.
Remember all the stuff about Obama which was code for "uppity"? It is too bad, but they brought it on themselves. Here they have a candidate and WTF! He is black! Irony of fate.
He is on a run and he cannot be stopped. Until he runs down. Or most GOoPers have enough of it and shut him off.
It feels good to be back on the campaign trail again.
