Hillary Clinton’s Edge in a Donald Trump-Centric Race Has Liberals Wary

It is a shitty headline but the story is about the malcontents, mostly Bernie followers, the so-called "progressives" who are unhappy that Clinton is trying to hit the central line, veering into Trump country to take the unhappy GOoPers into her electoral landslide.

Hey, she wants a mandate. And that is how you do it.

These people always show up as the whiners and lose their own message in their self pity and politically "correct" coloring of every issue.

And, I think, they are still mourning Sander's flop and will try to make the other Demos pay for it.

It pisses me off. It is over gang. Grab your jocks (if any), pull up your socks and help get behind the mandated election.

Believe me. You will need the landslide and Clinton when the still Republican Congress shows up next year. I am not believing that any Presidential landslide will take enough House seats to do the jobs that need to be done.

Our wounded man is Bernie Sanders.

Eminently unqualified for the job but persistent in his belief that he could do something if he got a chance.

Look, Bernie. You are too old, too left and too late.

I admire his spunk at his age. He has a lot more than me. All that electioneering crap.

But he has to do it.

Down from the clouds and into the street.

I do not want what he is peddling either.

I have seen this old New England righteousness before only in a different style and perhaps a different leaning.

He is a hand wringer and a sob sister.

I have nothing against Socialists. It is just that there is not one of them that has any idea of how to run the machinery of government.

They are caught up in political theory, their religion.

Not unlike the deeply religious who are so stuck on the piety that they can't do anyone any good and see a world of sin rather than a world of opportunity.

So I do not want him either.

I would rather go with another oldster who knows how to do it. Joe Biden. I am still holding his cup ready. It holds my toothbrush for now. It may yet get another outing. But he says "no". But I looked in his eye and saw a reservation.

I have written about the left wing whiners and malcontents who piss and moan about Obama's weakness and inability to deliver what they wanted out of his election.

Here is a guy who wrote a letter to Obama and got a personal, handwritten reply.

He has some evident remorse at his self absorption.

I wish more people on the left had these second thoughts.

There is a blog I read, frankly a sex blog with roaring photos, and the guy is just a complete asshole about the President and what he has done. It is filled with vitriol. I have to admit that if the photos weren't so hot I wouldn't turn to it.

But it is fascinating to see the sense of entitlement that people can have because they cast one fucking vote.

As far as I can see, not one of the complainers worked a minute for Obama's election or even acknowledge the good things that he has done.

These are the people who sat out the 2010 cycle and gave it to the GOoPers.

Pisses me off.

But here, at least, is one guy who sees the error of some of his thinking.

We even had an event here in the Coachella Valley. The Kochs put on a show for national right wing leaders at a local resort. A retreat.

They took over the whole place and put security guards on the perimeter. Almost a thousand people showed up to walk around the place and create a scene. Some got thrown out. Some got arrested.

Just like the old days in Harvard Square and other lefty places. I was there, man!

Had I known about the local rumble, I might have attended.

ROLLING ALONG

In the continued examination of the budget cuts Obama agreed to we find more rolling of the Republicans.

The actual non-paper, real cuts are now down from 40 billion to 8 billion.

The lefty whiners should be pleased to see that Obama is just a little smarter than they thought and I don't know what the Republicans think but the baggers must be pissed at Boehner. Good.

THE PROFESSIONAL LEFT LEFT OUT

Well, not "left out" so much as proven dead wrong in their dire predictions that Obama would capitulate to Republican rhetoric.

I knew that they were their usual over-pessimistic selves, deeply seated in their own self interest and, for the most part, whiny partisans who are as bad as the right wing nuts. This must be the way a traditional Republican feels about all the blather from the baggers and the other know-nothings.

But Obama rose to the occasion. A full throated argument for the liberal vision. A deep dismantling of the so called "courageous" and "serious" Ryan plan. Tax the poor and give to the rich, it was.

And now, the lefty bench is chastened if not cheering.

And yes. It was a grand showing of the way he will be in campaign mode. He gave a template for dismantling the so called GOoPer "vision" which is apt, clear and, with repetition will resonate with all but the most retrogressive voter.

CAUGHT WITH ITS BIAS DOWN

I don't have a lot of support for stealth videos, particularly the work of James O'Keefe, but I have to admit that as agitprop activities go, he has been pretty successful.

His ACORN vids may be questionable as to situational ethics, if there is such a thing, but there is no question about the effectiveness.

I have to admit that NPR is vulnerable.

I gave up on them long ago. Not because of their obvious bias but because of their sort of elitist attitudes and boring programming.

It is laughable to believe that NPR is not a "liberal" bastion. I sense that its people are full of entitlement and filled, in its managerial ranks, with a bunch of limousine liberal snob types who can't keep their disdain for others or their grabbiness for anyone's money under enough wraps to keep from being caught out.

Long sentence. But it is a long story.

I knew executives from WGBH when they were small and the place was filled with this kind of stuff. And people don't like it.

I am not glad this happened. But it is high time that they cleaned up their act. There is a lot of overhead there. The professional left is in evidence. A lot of non-profit management that I have seen is bent first on self survival and a shake up is a good thing.

Besides, it is this kind of shit that plays right into the Tea Bag's side of the "argument". Live ammunition. So sad.

NEW NICKNAME

I read an attack on Obama fans the other day.

The guy called us who are uncritical of the President, "Obamatons"

Guilty.

Then I found out this was a leftover from the primary.

The lefty wars are still with us.

They will cease soon though. We will be on the defense.

I hope the "Obamaphobes" can keep it to a dull roar.

They have already started to criticize him on the DADT repeal because they are sure that he will drag his feet.

He hasn't even signed the bill yet.

And I suppose there will be foot dragging too. It is the government, after all. And the military to boot.

A REAL SOCIALIST

I got an email from Bernie Sanders today, the Socialist Senator from Vermont.

He wanted me to support the opposition (kinda backward that) Obama's tax deal.

I answered "NO" in a nice way and pointed out that he is not a Democrat.

Of course, he could write back and say that he is not my Senator but he sent his letter from an organization, one of them, that is kind of lefty and I permit the email so I guess it is all right.

I see that Obama actually may like what he has done because it is really a beneficial omnibus bill which happens to stimulate the economy and, more importantly, it provided a template for how he may deal with the Republican controlled Congress in the new year.

He went over leadership heads and sent Joe Biden to work with McConell. And they got something.

Biden has been a great helper and assistant to the President but now, he may be more important than ever. He has long relationships with these guys on the other side and believes in horse trading in a style that is absolutely essential for any success in the next two years.

Its is pragmatic. It is real.

If the left is so adamant about a bill of this type their influence with the Administration is going to shrivel and die and maybe it should.

I just hope that we don't end up with the same screamers and shouters that the GOP has seemed to give in to.

Obama will not.

I find the left's rhetoric to be as repugnant as the Teas. Calling Obama a coward and an idiot is bullshit. It is not only unseemly it is extremely disloyal.

GIVE IT TO THEM

I like Obama's response to the liberal purists (and also the conservatives, "like negotiating for hostages") but it is his own side that gets the beating. Well deserved.

Obama reserved some of his harshest criticism for liberals, who he scolded for being "sanctimonious" purists who wouldn't be able to accomplish anything if they got their way. To drive home his point, he complained about the way liberals behaved during the health care debate, sounding like an unappreciated lover.

"Somehow this notion that we are willing to compromise too much reminds me of the debate we had during health care," Obama said. "This is the public option debate all over again. So I pass a signature piece of legislation where I finally get health care for all Americans, something that Democrats have been fighting for for 100 years, but because there was a provision in there that they didn't get that would have affected maybe a couple million people, even though we got health insurance for 30 million people, and the potential for lower premiums for 100 million people that somehow that was a sign of weakness and compromise. Now if that's the standard against which we are measuring success or core principles, then let's face it, we will never get anything done. People will have the satisfaction of having a purist position, and no victories for the American people. So I haven't written about the baggers for awhile.

How's this?

The Limited Appeal of a Far Right Platform

Of course, we might dismiss this as it comes from the seditious Washington Post, an inflammatory liberal paper filled with fuzzy headed pro-government idealogues.

Actually, WaPo has become a Republican organ in its editorial page and not all that friendly to the Obamas on the news page.

A morsel.

We should also get over the notion that somehow, this is a "movement" that's sweeping the nation -- only 8% of Tea Party supporters (about 2% of the larger population) claim to be "active participants."

I suspect the same for left wing wingnuts as well even though that was not in the questions.

Real people don't want this kind of rhetoric and the appeal of the proposals, if any, from these people are distasteful.

What is interesting is that while the citizenry more or less rejects this extreme stuff, the panderers in the Senate (John McCain) and House are drinking some weak tea.

URBAN AND NOT SO URBAND LEGENDS

The people at Snopes got a great writeup today in the NYT.

Debunkers of Fictions Sift the Net

I have used them for a long time.

At first, I was interested in their interest in urban legends. You know. The guy with the homicidal maniac with a hook on his hand on lovers' lane? Or the woman who woke up in a tubful of ice with a kidney missing? Or the alligators coming up in the toilet? I did. Bunk.

Then, as the net began to spew more and more bogus email chain letters, Snopes became the default source for truth versus fiction.

I have never hesitated to send someone a Snopes citation when they send me some shit that they didn't check on themselves which is almost all chain email except for pussy cat pictures and inspirational doo dah.

As a result, I notice that I am not included on anyone's chain letter list anymore. They have figured out that I am not drinking the Kool-aid.

The article points to something that I have observed of late on blogs and that is the skepticism about simple truths.

Find one flaw and the whole thing is thrown into disrepute.

Sadly, this is true of the lefties as well as the right. I get tired of it.

I have cut down now on any blog reading because I just don't want to enable any of it. Or hear it.

I am using a newish site which has won the Pulitzer. Run by the St. Petersburg Times. Politifacts.

Try telling friends that they are full of shit and see how quickly you deplete your friendship bank.

It is OK with me actually. If people are going to run their life and their network of friends on the basis of scurrilous and unfounded rumor they need to be cut away.

One disappointment. The article doesn't say how they got the name Snopes. Or did I miss something.
