A commenter mentions that I neglected Carson in my summation of the GOP candidates.

No. I didn't.

I just had to stop somewhere.

The list keeps changing all the time.

I used the CNN tabs for my summary.

The sad fact is that I don't know anything about Carson.

In my own defense, I can only say that the list keeps shifting and somehow I did miss him.

Now that I have looked at him a bit, I would put him in a list of not-serious wing nuts who don't have a chance.

There. Job done.

Who else did I leave out. Sarah Palin is not running as far as I know.

Every so often the liberal bleeding hearts have some measurable success.

The thing about lefty positions is that they are often led by the heart and so the results are qualitative, not necessarily quantitative.

But here we are. We have both. In a relatively short time.

Maybe they will quit calling it "Obamacare" pretty soon but now that it has stuck and it is a success, then so be it. Once again, hoist by their own petard, rhetorically speaking.

By "them" I mean the Fox News crowd and the pundits who like to lead from their cold little non-bleeding hearts.

Obama is still surprising us and in a good way.

When you think of it, this is just what he ought to be doing.

It is not his war but it is his to finish. And while most/many of the troops are coming home soon, they are still serving in a god forsaken part of the world that is hostile and painfully uncomfortable to be in. And yes I know that Afghans live there all the time but it is a shithole and there is no nice way around it. It is a horrible place with marginal people and fucked up politics.

What could be more fitting for a Memorial Day weekend? A time to honor those who still serve and dedicate ourselves to the memory of those who did not make it out of there. Sent for no purpose other than the political whims of a handful of wingers.

No, I am not bitter. I am mad. Still angry that for a long period of time we wasted our capital on this kind of adventurism.

They are still there incidentally. The meddlers and the fixers who see the American way as farting around with others in the world as though they have all the answers.

I will hold my horses here. Further ranting will be to no avail. No minds will be changed.

Suffice to say that Obama cares enough to go half way 'round the world for a fitting tribute to those who got caught in the machine of war.

Rand Paul Condemns Cliven Bundy's Remarks on Blacks

For about 48 hours, this obvious right wing cowboy got a lot of right wing press for standing up to old Uncle and defending his rights to graze his cattle where he fuckin' wants.

Instant support from the talking heads at Faux News and other right wing outlets.

Then, they realized that he had somehow slipped in a rather blatant comment about "the blacks" and, on second reading, they ran for the hills.

Presumably the city slickers could find the hills, this being the wide open spaces.

And then, to add even more amusement, Old Clive went to the microphones and repeated the slur all over again.

Why is it that in addition to being wrong a lot of these guys manage to be outspokenly stupid as well?

Rand Paul was smart enough to catch himself or his staff was. The second round of racism got a lot of the righties crawling out from under the big pile of cowshit that Bundy had delivered.

What fun!

I don't know if Clyde is right about his grazing rights or not. He had a lot of support from other ranchers.

But then this is another example of conservative hypocrisy. Decry the government handouts to others but protect your own benefits. There is nothing wrong with taking government help. Or using government land, to be specific. Just don't be a dumbass about it and fly under the radar like the rest of us. Reserve your outrage for things you are not doing and would not do.
