It is an old adage that when I point my finger at you there are three fingers pointing back at me.

Many times, the scolds are hiding something about themselves.

Today, a judge had enough of Bill Cosby's fulminations and took him to the woodshed.

His case, however, is not about Defendant's status as a public person by virtue of his exercise of his trade as a televised or comedic personality. Rather Defendant has donned the mantle of public moralist and mounted the proverbial print or electronic soap box to volunteer his views on, among other things, childrearing, family life, education and crime. To the extent that Defendant has freely entered the public square ... he has voluntarily narrowed the zone of privacy that he's entitled to claim.

The thing is that actors and comedians should know they need to watch themselves when they get into territory sensitive to other people.

Cosby used being black as a cover for all his shenanigans. As a serial rapist and assault perpetrator (drugging women) he is probably held to greater account.

But arrogance knows no limit. At least his type doesn't.

It is a shame. In his prime, the last thing he probably needed was extra help to get laid. Of course, if your partner is comatose there may be another thrill involved. A kink.

It is actually sad. But it is hard to gin up any sympathy for this. Not in this day and age.

The fact that it is a priest is sort of a double whammy. The anti-gay catholic who is supposed to be celibate. Well, I guess flashing is not breaking one's celibacy. I am not up on canon law for this one.

HOLD THAT TIGER

I watched Tiger Woods' mea culpa today.

I thought he did a pretty good job according to the standards the media and others hold about such things. Mostly hypocritical. Let him who hath not sinned cast the first stone kind of thing.

It is all PR bullshit and everyone knows it. Kabuki.

I watched CNN this morning. The reporter assigned to be on site (not in the same room with Woods, only an invited list got in there) was giddy with excitement and full of speculation. Would the wife be there? All that. It was really disgusting. And the anchor's smarmy kind of moral superiority.

When I say he did a good job I mean that he hit all the marks. I liked that he stuck to his Buddhist rules and didn't kiss Brit Hume's ass by "going christian".

I suspect that he was as well coached in this as you can be. Anywhere. The PGA is desperate to get over this. He is their draw. Nike has a fortune tied up in his brand.

You can bet that all of his backers have been in on this and a top flight PR firm prepared a lot of the script and rehearsed him.

What a crock!

We demand impossible standards of our celebrities. Woods tried his damnedest not to be a celebrity but just to play the game. They got him for that too.

Oh and let's not pass without mentioning the differential standards around race. White women. Blonds. It is in there.

Some jerk-off at CPAC got up today and managed to analogize between Tiger and Barack. Strained. Inept. Horribly racist and sexist. But he did it anyway. And they all laughed and cheered. There is no end to this kind of crap.

What Happened in Vegas

I know that we are all sinners and that no one has the corner on cheesy sex behavior but these weasels can't walk the talk no matter what.

In this case, they not only tried to prayerize Ensign's hard on away but they figured that the christian thing to do was to pay the family of the paramour off to keep their mouths shut. Of course they say this was a payment out of compassion for the situation.

Uh-huh.

It is like watching a ping pong game with these guys. Mark Sanford, not a senator after all, John Ensign, Larry Craig. And so on.

But when one of their own gets their crank caught in the wringer they are amazingly forgiving. Can you say Gingrich and Guiliani three times without laughing?

The "prayer house" in question is on C Street in DC and houses six congressmen. They hold prayer sessions for various and sundry legislators.

There is nothing wrong with this of course, inherently, but isn't this like a lobby? Do they pay real rent? Is God their co-pilot or their landlord?

I am sure that this is an unwanted spotlight for the residents and "many government people" who pass through there for prayer and counseling.
