Weeper
In the old days there movies called "a woman's film".
Most of them were extended soap operas and were, well, weepy. I grew up in the care of an aunt who had these on the radio all day long.
So I know a soap opera when I see it and today's film is anything but.
Two friends, one contracts cancer which turns out to be, well, fatal.
So we know the end of the story in
The review also has the story of the film and explains why this is so successful in missing the usual potholes of sentiment.
Toni Collete, Drew Barrymore, Dominic Cooper (so sexy still) and Paddy Considine. Two couples. Then there are kids.
I liked this a lot and would be willing to see it again. I knew how it was going to turn out when I started. As usual with a good film the it is the journey not the destination. The story arc.
A 4 out of Netflix5.
