Downpour

Today's film is one of the all time greats.

And it is about "talking pictures" and the problems of voiceovers. Prescient.

Singin' in the Rain (1952)

with Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor, Debbie Reynolds and Jean Hagen.

Hasn't everyone seen this already? If not, what's wrong with you? Get to it.

I cannot tell you how many times I have seen this including the first time when it came around.

I was a sophomore in high school

The review at the link by Roger Ebert tells a lot of inside stories of the film and how it was made. And why. It was first developed as a way to recycle songs and sets that the film company owned hence the idea to make it a musical about making musicals. The transition from silent to sound.
