GOT IT
We went to sign papers on the Volvo this morning.
The original idea was to get the vehicle off the lot and into storage so we could buy it when we get a settlement on the Sebring Convertible that was totaled.
As it turns out, we had to pay, we had to apply for a loan, we had to do all the paperwork that a sale involves.
So we took the car home for a thousand dollars and financing. The first payment isn't until the end of August when, with any luck, we will simply buy the car outright. There is no prepayment penalty.
But, goddam, the paperwork. And you have to do it even if you pay cash. The Patriot Act. They want to know where money comes from and goes. And other stuff too.
I remember this from the Sebring.
But what we did not have to do is to put up with a lot of bullshit from the salesmen.
They are two. There is a manager. The manager tolls it all up. You stay with the salesman until the last minute then go in and give your money to the manager. No more pressure. Nothing to be sold.
It is great.
There are two service reps. We were taken to meet them. Nice.
I said before, it is like the agency where we used to get our SAABs.
We drove the car home. John did.
I got on the phone to add the car to the insurance which went just fine.
Then I took it out for a little drive. I figured out how to work almost everything. I don't know why it seemed so formidable.
It has been a long day though. No nap. Behind on schedule.
