BARACKGROUND

I have finished Obama's first book, Dreams From My Father

It covers his early life and the time up until he enters law school. He infuses the biography with the story of his African family and its influences upon him. He tells about his father who was such and enigma for him growing up.

It is a fine book.

I was struck with the realization that he did not anticipate where he would be at this time when he wrote it. On the other hand, you can see that the book is a kind of preparation for exactly where he is at this time.

I do not share the African stuff but I do share the father stuff.

I was touched deeply by many parts of his story.

I have moved on to The Audacity of Hope. It is quite a different piece of work. And not.
