Why is this important?

Because he can raise money that the establishment cannot.

He has a deep pocketed network.

I read today that Clinton has mostly big donors and they must stop at the ceiling ($2,300 for the primary, $2,300 for the general). She is drying up just when she needs the cash most.

The rumor is that she really raised less but that they voodooed the numbers.

I also read that she has to stay in the contest because she is so in debt that she has to keep raising money.

This is probably one of those soft rumors, but it makes a little sense.

McCain, incidentally, raised only 16 million in march so Obama has beaten both of them in total!

The presumptive nominee and he is getting less money than either of the Democrats.
