HALF A LOAF

If you read the tea leaves:

it is hard to escape the conclusion that the court will uphold Prop 8 and also uphold the marriages that have already taken place.

The State did a lousy job with the idea of referendums changing rights. They didn't defend the questions very well.

There does seem to be a drift toward marriage in all but name only. Not bad. But it is already pretty much the case.

I am not surprised. Nor disappointed.

I am an optimist in most areas including this one but I am not under the illusion that these goals will be achieved either swiftly or easily.

We did our part. We are married.

If they unmarry us we will still be domestic partners. But I don't think that they will.
